The Association of Science and Technology of Xiangxi Prefecture Promotes Geological Knowledge in Local Community

　　An activity to disseminate the knowledge on geology took place on January 18. 2019 in Furong Community, Furong Town, Yongshun County, Hunan Province to help Xiangxi Prefecture apply for Xiangxi Global Geopark. The event was jointly organized by the Association of Science and Technology of Xiangxi Prefecture, Geopark Administration Office of Xiangxi Prefecture, the Association of Science and Technology of Yongshun County, and the Office of Yongshun County on the Application for Xiangxi Global Geopark.

　　During the event, the staff explained the geological knowledge and distributed brochures on Xiangxi Geopark to the local residents, while holding a competition on geological Q&A to win prizes.

　　A total of six display boards were shown, more than 300 brochures were distributed, and over 100 prizes were granted. This activity won acclaim from local people, who noted that this event provided an excellent opportunity for them to have a better understanding about local geological resources, have a strong sense of pride for their hometown, and help increase their scientific literacy. They hoped that they could take part in more such activities in the future.
