Trilobite Fossil Biota of Ordovincian System in Liexi
Tribolite fossils forming in the upper part of Tongzi formation(O1t) in the lower Ordovician series were a thin layer of mixture of argillaceous limestone and marl (see Photo 1-49) containing 15m-thick layer of abundant fossils, including Asaphopsoides yongshunensis (see Photo 1-50), Annamitella sp., Szechuanella, indeteminate species of Xiamgxiia etc.. These intact fossils were up to 32×28cm2 in size. Besides, in the section and its surrounding areas there was development of cephalopoda including Paraceras sp., Maclurites sp., M. cf. nesitoides, Pseudocryptaenia sp., brachiopoda including Nereidella sp., Orthacea sp., Yangtzeella sp. and Strophomenoidea, conodonts (such as repanoistodusc basiovalis., Panderodus gracilis. and Belodella jemtlandica) and so on.
