Dehang Karst Wall-Karst Pillar Group
Dehang Grand Canyon features steep cliffs, with its top at an altitude of 600-800m. Along the two sides of the canyon are densely distributed many karst wall-karst pillar groups (Photo 4-91), which are developed in the thin-middle thick, lamina and crystalline, clastic limestone and dolomite in Qingxudong(Є2q), Aoxi (Є3a)and Chefu (Є3-4c)formations in the Cambrian period.

Tianwen (Questioning Heaven) Platform, also called “Arranging Battle Platform”, is located in the central part of the canyon. It is a round platform with a diameter of 6m, and an elevation difference of 300m with the valley bottom. Stone steps that lead to the platform are built along the karst wall. On the two sides of the platform stand steep canyons, and several waterfalls pour from the cliffs. It looks misty and majestic, and is known as a rare natural viewing platform over Dehang Grand Canyon (Photo 4-93).
