Jiupuxi Waterfall

Located in the south of Luota Karst Platform, Jiupuxi (literally meaning nine-step )Waterfall has a drop of 58m and an average overflow width of 2-7m. It was formed by the water flow in the lower part of Tianguotan Cave (a subterranean stream), which flows out of the cave to pour down the steep cliffs. The water flow meet together and flows towards Mengxi River. Due to large drop, nine steps of waterfall have been formed. Hence, it is called Jiupuxi (literally meaning nine-step) Waterfall (photo 4-66). A group of more than 10 pools was formed due to water erosion and corrosion, with a depth of 1-10m. There are three large pools: Immortal Pool, Heavenly Pool and Earthly Pool. Each pool has its own characteristics. The Immortal Pool is the largest one, which is surrounded by dense, virgin secondary forests. The Heavenly Pool is the smallest one, which has a waterfall with a drop of 30m. Visitors will feel completely relaxed and happy at the sight of ripples in the pool. The Earthly Pool is the roundest one. Two waterfalls pour down from the cliffs, which looks very magnificent and beautiful.
