Work Program for the National Photography Competition of Xiangxi Global Geopark
On
July 7, 2020, Xiangxi Geopark was officially designated as a UNESCO
Global Geopark. In order to celebrate the success of the application,
showcase the cultural tourism resources in Xiangxi Global Geopark
with images, promote the new brand of Xiangxi tourism, help Xiangxi
to tackle targeted poverty alleviation, and build a well-off society
in an all-round way, the First National Photography Competition of
Xiangxi Global Geopark will be held. The work program is formulated
as follows:

II. Participants
Photographers, photography workers and enthusiasts in China and beyond, and other people who are concerned about Xiangxi World Geopark.
III. Scope
The scope of this photography competition is limited to geosites, scenic spots, bio-ecology, folk customs, traditional villages and ethnic minority villages in Xiangxi Global Geopark, which can fully demonstrate the achievements that geo-tourism in the geopark has promoted targeted poverty alleviation efforts.
The key sites include: Aizhai Bridge, Dehang Miao Ethnic Village, Furong Town, the GSSP for Guzhangian Stage, Red Stone Forest, Zuolong Valley, the GSSP for Paibian Stage, Shibadong Village, Dalongdong and Xiaolongdong Waterfalls, Fenghuang Tianxing Mountain, Jianduoduo Waterfall, Sanmendong Grand Canyon, Baojing LÜdong Mountain, Longshan Rebala and Longshan Luota Stone Forest.
Four types of key geosites:
GSSP for Guzhangian Stage; GSSP for Paibian Stage

3.Platform-Valley Group, including rock column, rock wall, cave, waterfall, depression and doline.
4. Traditional villages and ethnic minority villages: including Hangsha, Laosiyan, Banli, Rebala, Qixin, Budian, Huoluping, Miliang, Zhangdao, Zhier, Jinluohe, LÜdong, Liexi, Zhizhou, Dehang, Pinglang, Jinlong, Hengzhang, Shibadong, Xiche, Zhangjiapo and Zhonghuang villages.
IV. Notes for Participation
1. The photography works should highlight the theme of "the beauty of Xiangxi Global Geopark", which should be positive, with high aesthetic taste and strong artistic appeal.
2.Entries that have participated in the former photography competitions held by Xiangxi Prefecture in the past shall not be submitted.
3. Photography works can be moderately adjusted in brightness, contrast and color saturation, and no post-technical treatment such as combination, addition or substantial change of color is allowed. It is forbidden to provide computer creative works and change the original image works.
4. Entries shall be submitted in electronic format. Black-and-white and color photos can be used. There is no limit to the number of entries. There are no less than six and no more than 20 photos for each group (one group photo is counted as one works). The submitted works shall be in jpg format, and be not less than 2M.
5. The works in electronic format shall be indicated with the title of the photo(s), place and time of taking photos, author's name, correspondence address, contact telephone number, e-mail address, etc. Basic information related to the photo(s) shall also be provided. The author is to blame for the works which cannot be selected due to the lack of written descriptions.
6. The organizer shall inform the author to provide the original data electronic file (RAW) format containing photography information (EXIF) and the adjusted electronic file (JPG) format for the shortlisted works. The author must provide the above electronic documents to the organizer within the specified time, otherwise it shall be regarded as unqualified works.
7.There is no entry fee for this competition. The organizer shall have the right to publish albums on, hold exhibitions on and use all the selected works in related publicity activities/publications, and shall no longer pay any fees for the selected works.
8.The authors shall ensure that they have independent and complete copyrights for all the photos, texts and other information submitted in their entries for this competition, and undertake not to infringe any third party's legitimate rights and interests, including intellectual property rights, portrait rights, reputation rights and privacy rights. In case of any dispute arising from violation of the above undertaking, the authors themselves shall be responsible for solving it and bear all legal responsibilities.
9.The authors participating in this competition shall be deemed to have known and agreed to abide by the above agreement. The right of interpretation shall belong to the organizer.
V. Key Milestones
(1) Period for contribution: August 1-August 31, 2020
(2) Time of review: September 1, 2020
(3) Period of announcement: September 2-7, 2020
The Organizing Committee of the competition shall announce the award-winning results on the mainstream media in Xiangxi Prefecture. In case of any objection to the award-winning works during the period of announcement, the participants of the competition can contact with the Office of the Organizing Committee.
VI. Policy Support
Members of photographers' associations at or above the prefecture level and those at or above the county level within Xiangxi Prefecture can enter the scenic spots (entry tickets of the main gate) of Xiangxi Global Geopark in which fees are charged for taking photos free of charge during the competition period (from August 1, 2020 to August 31, 2020) with the entry permits issued by the Organizing Committee, their own membership cards and ID cards. The deadline for handling the entry permits is August 15, 2020. If it is overdue, the certificate shall not be handled. The certificate can only be used by the holder himself or herself, and cannot be lent to others for use.

VII. Prizes
There will be a gold prize for collection in this competition, with a reward of RMB 10,000 (USD 1460); two silver prizes for collection, each with a reward of RMB 5,000 (USD 718); three bronze prizes for collection, each with a reward of RMB 2,000 (USD 292); 80 prizes of honorable mention for collection, each with a reward of RMB 500 (USD 72). The Organizing Committee will issue honorary certificates to the award winners, who shall pay the personal income taxes of the rewards.

IX. Budget
The total funds are RMB 140,000 (USD 20460), of which:
(1) For selection of photographic works: RMB 80,000
1. Expert review fee: RMB 10,000
2. Payment for the contribution of works: RMB 66,000
3. Other expenses: RMB 4,000 ( (making award certificates, etc.)
(2) Display of works: RMB 30,000
(3) Logistics cost: RMB 30,000
including promotion, transporting, catering, venue, labor and other costs.
