Announcement on the First Competition of Selecting Top 10 Most Beautiful Tourist Attractions within Xiangxi Global Geopark 2020

To Geopark Administration Offices of Jishou, Fenghuang, Yongshun, Guzhang, Longshan, Huayuan and Baojing at municipal/county levels:

On July 7, 2020, Xiangxi World Geopark was officially designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark. In order to further showcase the magic and charm of Xiangxi Global Geopark and promote the tourism resources of Xiangxi Prefecture, we decide to carry out the " First Competition of Selecting Top 10 Beautiful Landscapes within Xiangxi Global Geopark 2020", which is hereby announced as follows:

All the tourist attractions within Xiangxi Global Geopark

IV. Standards of Selection

Top 10 tourist attractions within Xiangxi World Geopark will be selected through recommendation, public voting and expert selection. These tourist attractions shall meet the following requirements:

1. boasts unique natural and cultural landscapes;

2. enjoys high popularity and reputation;

3. has a strong reach in the market;

4. is well protected in terms of resources and environment;

5. provides good service with a good satisfaction degree of tourists;

6. has strong potential for development and expanding its influence.

V. Content for Selection

1. the First Competition of Top 10 tourist attractions within Xiangxi Global Geopark 2020 (Comprehensive Selection).

2. Special Award: the First Competition on the Most Popular Tourist Attraction (through online voting) within Xiangxi Global Geopark 2020.

VI. Procedure of Selection

Three phases: publicity, recommendation and voting/review.

Phase 1.Publicity（August 6—August 9）    

    Issuing of notice: publishing the information through various media such as the official website of Xiangxi Global Geopark, WeChat, mobile APP, so as to let the general public know the activity.

Phase 2. Recommendation (August 10-August 21)

    Each of the Geopark Management Offices of the seven counties and cities recommend 3-5 tourist attractions for selection, provide relevant materials as required (fill in the Application Form for Top 10 Most Beautiful Tourist Attractions of Xiangxi Global Geopark, and provide three original photos of these tourist attractions, each with a size of more than 2M).

Phase 3. Public voting and review (August 22-September 8)

（1）Qualification preliminary review ( August 22-24)

The Organizing Committee will summarize all the application materials, organize the review on the qualification and materials of the targets, and determine the shortlist.

（2）Public voting (August 25-September 5)

An online voting system will be established for the general public to vote for the shortlisted candidates.

（3）Comprehensive review (September 6-7)  

Experts are invited to establish a jury and score at site. According to the ratio of 3:7, the results of public voting and expert review are counted. Finally, the Organizing Committee of the event determines the list of winners for the Top 10 Most Beautiful Tourist Attractions of the First Competition of Xiangxi Global Geopark 2020.

(4) Announcement of the result (September 8)

List of winners for the Top 10 Most Beautiful Tourist Attractions of the First Competition of Xiangxi Global Geopark 2020 will be announced on various media, including the official website, APP and public WeChat account of Xiangxi Global Geopark.

VII. Display of Top 10 Tourist Attractions

The Top 10 Tourist Attractions within Xiangxi Global Geopark will be promoted through exhibition tours via Rednet Xiangxi PC terminal, and Moment of Rednet APP Xiangxi Channel so as to further enhance the reputation and influence of Xiangxi Global Geopark and Xiangxi tourism brand.

VIII. Work Requirement

1. Strengthen leadership.  The geopark management offices of the seven counties/municipalities within Xiangxi Global Geopark should strengthen organization and leadership of the event, determine the specific persons responsible for the implementation of the event. Please report the names of the specific persons in charge to the Organizing Committee by August 7.

2. Actively organize the event. The geopark management offices of the seven counties/municipalities within Xiangxi Global Geopark are required to carefully organize, and select the candidates of tourist attractions for application.
